Children: We Love Them!

Both the Toddler-thru-K and the Grades 1-5 class are on the first floor, past the double doors. Learning opportunities based on an ecumenical curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit (see www.spiritseasons.com), are provided by Katie Paden (1-5) and Camille Vaughan (T-K); parental involvement is encouraged. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m.

YOUTH: Not Just Sunday Evenings!

Our Youth Group, primarily middle schoolers, meets almost every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for a time of fun, discussion, learning (such as “The Gospel according to Harry Potter”), and dinner. They also make bagged lunches once a month for Intown Community Ministries to benefit the homeless community, and for one week each summer they participate in MAP, the Metropolitan Atlanta Project, a massive multi-church service for impoverished residents who need new roofs on their houses. Cassie Noland, Youth Minister, is assisted by several young adults who serve as sponsors; support from the teens’ parents is vital.

ADULT STUDIES: Not just Sunday mornings!

At present two regular adult Sunday School classes regularly meet at 9:45; often a third class is offered to provide variety and to respond to particular needs. Rev. Katie Aikins, Associate Pastor, is studying the congregation to learn how best to provide educational and social opportunities for young adults.

The WORECO Class studies the International Lesson Series and meets at the far end of the hall, across from the chapel.

The Discovery Class considers varied topics; these are often contemporary cultural issues which touch on faith. It meets in the Quillian Room, just past the pastor’s office. Discussion is encouraged.

On most Sunday evenings at 6:30 Rev. Allen Grady invites folks to get an advance look at the next Sunday’s sermon, by way of studying the lectionary readings from the Old and New Testaments. The group meets in the Conference Room.

Once a month, usually the second Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m., interesting presentations related to Peace and Justice – both local and international issues – are given in the Fellowship Hall. Reservations are needed for the 6:00 casually-catered dinner which precedes the discussion, but not for the meeting itself.
