Habemus Episcopum!

Yeah, OK, so that’s a phrase more common to our Roman Catholic sisters and brothers, but I thought it was cool to throw in a little “high church”. For those of you who don’t recall your high school Latin classes, habemus episcopum roughly translates to “we have a Bishop” - a new Bishop for the North Georgia Conference of the UMC. He is B. Michael Watson, who has served the last eight years as Bishop of the South Georgia Conference. Based on my conversations with Rex about the episcopal election, it would seem that Bishop Mike Watson will have a theological perspective similar to that of our outgoing Bishop, Lindsey Davis, which is to say he would tend toward the more conservative end of the spectrum. However, some folks I know have said that Watson has some points in his favor as well.
I’ll have more to say about this later, but I wanted to get the news out to y’all as soon as I could.
