Druid Hills Softball - Opening Night
12 June 2008
Your Druid Hills coed softball team acquitted themselves well tonight, despite losing their first game of the season 10-9. I’d rather not say we lost the whole game – I prefer to think of us as having lost the first half 6-0, while winning the second half 9-4. We clearly suffered from first game jitters, and hopefully we’ll overcome that in games to come.
Kudos all around for spirited play, with special nods to Andy Roach who scored our first run of the season (on Dan Browning’s sacrifice fly), and to local media celebrity Julia Alexander for her managerial prowess. Jamie Heffelfinger will henceforth be known as Otis the Bull for his assertively physical defense at first base.
Many thanks also to the throngs of fans who were on hand for the game. If you haven’t yet experienced a DHUMC softball game, you have a couple of chances in the coming week – we have games Monday and Tuesday evenings, both at 7:30 p.m. We play at First Baptist Church of Decatur on Clairemont at the intersection with Commerce, just one block north of the old Decatur courthouse. Come out and support the team!
