Chips and Salsa

Hi! My name is Melinda and I am the Minister to Children and Youth here at Druid Hills UMC. I am also a Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor-in-Training at St. Joseph’s Hospital (this is a long way of saying that I teach pastoral care to chaplain interns at St. Joseph’s). I am from Texas, originally, and am an ordained elder in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. The most important thing, though, to know about me is that I LOVE chips and salsa.

My experience at Druid Hills is that it is a community of radical hospitality. Everyone is welcome here because we believe everyone is loved by God. And this is what we model and teach to our children and youth. We are also a community of servants. We believe that we must be instruments of love, peace, and justice by finding ways to serve those in need. I believe it is important for our children and youth to know that they are loved unconditionally by God, which empowers them to be who God created them to be! Through our Sunday School classes, we show each child how special and unique they are and that God loves them.

I hope you’ll come and experience the joy and hope of God’s presence at Druid Hills UMC!

Hi Melinda,

While bopping around the web looking for helpful tools for ministry, I found this site which hosts youth organizing and community building ministry. It’s called Tuggle & is free. The URL is http://www.tuggle.it/ Let me know what you think.
